Was up at casement yesterday. Good match, but felt that when kilkenny wanted to score they could. Good performance all the same.

One problem that I think casement officials need to clamp down on if possible, are the amount of local children who enter the ground (for free) with their hurling stick and ball, take up space in the stand and sit and talk in their groups of 5-10. No intrest in the match at all. Probably very little that can be done about this. Anybody else feel the same??

Children only enter the ground supervised - somebody is letting them run loose after this!

Some game was witnessed yesterday at Casement Park! Hopefully this is a sign of things to come, battling to the end with great spirit! Some great individual performances, and the subs all made impacts! Kilkenny did at times however make the game look easy. Great day had by all thought, and I hope the same crowds turn out for the league games, and get behind the team!

Today was very encouraging. Some really determined performances and no little skill either. Certainly there were some basic errors when in possession but overall a very positive display. Some of the subs had a real impact - I'm thinking in particular of number 18 and Stephen (?) Shannon who scored a beauty seconds after coming on.

Well done to the hurlers, the management and the county officials who worked to bring the game to Casement and to deliver a great day.

Bad luck to the gorts today. It was a great game, by far closer than the scoreline suggested. They done the county proud.

One other notable disappointment was the absence of any county official - the symbolic support wouldn't have won us the match but it would've been nice all the same.
Good luck from the heart to blarney in croker

The unavailablity of anyone from County Management was discussed with your club chairman several days ago. He was insistent that he fully understood that all available hands "needed to be on deck" in Casement. We have no doubt Gort naMona did the county proud.

Well done the Saffrons. Absolutlety superb performance against Kilkenny today, there was a tremendous fight in the lads today and some terrific individual performances also.

A big thank you to Kilkenny for the tremendous gesture in travelling to Belfast. A great day for the kids also when Brian Cody and his charges patiently accommodated each one them by signing autographs, hurls, shirts, sliotars. The County also done us proud and pulled out all the stops in terms of the reception and hospitality for the Kilkenny team.

Hopefully it will not be too long before the mighty 'Cats' will be back in Casement. A superb day all round.

For all the begrudgers and armchair hurling fans who moan about the standard of our hurling, it's worth remembering, Kilkenny do not field bad hurling teams. Our lads were mighty today, despite the narrow defeat.

Do our county board members have as big a say as someone such as Frank Murphy in Cork? Just wondering do any of the board help out with the teams, or is it solely down to the management of those teams? Thanks

What do you mean by "as big a say"? Several members of our Management do help out with our teams, but none are involved with selecting teams, panels etc.

Antrim 2-12 Kilkenny 1-20
The eagerly awaited hurling match in casement Park today, between Antrim and Kilkenny, proved to be good day for Antrim hurling. We did not win nor were we in truth expected to, but we got the next best result with some good periodic displays and strong individual performances, especially in the first half. Even the weather was kind to both players and supporters alike, in Casement today with more than a fair share of pale winter sun. Antrim came out strongly in the early stages of the game and appeared to be set in their determination to avoid unwelcome embarassment at the hands of Kilkenny. It has to be acknowledged at that Kilkenny were sufficiently confident as to agree to travel to Casement in the first instance, when they did not have to and again Kilkenny fielded a relatively experimental team on the day. This combination made for a good game of hurling and both teams were given a warm reception at outset with a further standing ovation from supporters as they left the field, following the final whistle. Again, given the way in which Kilkenny sustained pressure throughout the game, it has to be said that Kilkenny appeared to be in complete control, with sufficient energy and skill in reserve, as to be under no real threat. This was an occasion where Antrim were not going to be permitted to steal a victory on the day.

As down glens came McNaughton's men with their hurleys slung behind them
It is in their clubs that these men and subs a-round their pitches you will find them
They have sweated blood and and get covered in mud and it's for these lads we'll cheer
And now were on the road again with McNaughton's fusiliers!
Good luck Antrim...

Support for the Centre of Excellence.

I would encourage as many people as possible to support the planning application for the Centre of Excellence especially if representing their club or the Association's many organisations. Gaels unattached to any club can also lend their assistance by writing in to the Planning Service.
To those that thought the Saffron Sweep tickets were too expensive and admission charges too much here's your chance to help and all for the cost of a postage stamp!!!!

The ??? chairman has made it mandatory that each player contributes £??? to the payment of senior management team of the club. He will be disclosing those who do not pay. This is in addition to club membership. Can I ask if this is within the rules and who should I approach to report this. This has been ratified by the ???? club committee.

Payment of managers is not within rule. Proving it happens has always been very difficult and therefore there "reporting" it to whoever must bear this in mind. Aonoymous allegations certainly is not the way to go about it and essentially this is an internal club matter.
