I it true that players who were on the county minor panels last year dont have to attend a trial until the 1st of march?

They are not allowed by rule to attend them. That doesn't mean there won't be trials after that date.

Minor football trials are being held, but you replied to someone saying "No official manager has been appointed yet". What's wrong with the hurling getting up and going then?

Becuase a Management team is in place for football but needs "official sanctioning" from County Committee. That is not the case for hurling just yet.

do county squads get free boots?

Why are ???, ???, ??? not involved with the Antrim football panel?

This is entriely a matter for thise players you named and is certainly not something we can answer. They were asked to coms aboard but chose not to. That's their own personal decision and they should not have to explain it to anyone.

o use just dont seem to think of the reality that?????????

The vast majority of this was deleted as it was complete rubbish, devoid of any facts and demostrated no insight or understanding of any of the realities surrounding this whole issue. It's a pity you wasted so much time typing it out, so maybe before you post another tirade, you might think about it and perhaps do something more constructive.

personaly i think its out of order that a minor hurling manager has not being apointed. Trials could have been held for people who were not on the panel so teh boys could get straight into it!! Gettin beat by down wouldnt be to far wrong the way this is going!!

So, who do you suggest should run the trials? Why did not one club propose anyone for this job? " Trials for those who were not on the panel is all that can be held prior to March - what's the panic?

What happens in Antrim are beaten by Dublin, where do they go after that? could they still win the Liam McCarthy?

Yes, they go into a section of first round losers in Leinster and the first round lose in Munster. However, it's "dire dog..." at that stage.

Just a reply to the guy asking about the course in ballycastle,
I don’t think the s&c course run by T.Stevenson includes weight training using Olympic bars, or squatting racks etc. Teaching these methods of training requires many hours of hands on practice, supervision from a certified s&c coach as well as knowing your theory.

I think the course would be more in the mould of the basic exercises of circuit training with the focus on functional use for hurling & football. It would defiantly be worthwhile to attend as it will give you an introduction to core exercises & power training that can be used for either yourself in the gym or for training your own teams.

I have started a cross community project between local schools and was wondering if the county could provide any coaching assistance with my project, as a way of promoting the integrated ethos of the GAA?

Yes. Contact either either the Hurling or Football development managers whose details are in the committees section of this site.

No idea to be honest.
