I thought the Casement-International Rules story got a fair outing in previous posts and did'nt feel much compelled to comment.
?????

The information you were reportedly given is not entirely accurate and we have therefore deleted it as some people will obviously think it might be accurate. It is not. We do know however, that Ulster did not nominate any venue, but Antrim and Cavan did submit their own requests to host this match. What no other county/province apart from Limerick/Munster did was submit a "detailed report" as to why their venue should be considered. That was mandatory according to the Croke Park Management Committee, but neither Antrim or Cavan were made aware that this was necessary. This is why the county chairman has written and requested clarification from Croke Park on a number of matters. Full clarification on this is apparently still to be received.

I know the clubs had to have the names of players in for tomorrow for the minor trials, but do you have any information about when the trials will be held?

Check the news section.

Dont really agree with the comment about cushendall. Sunday dosent show that much, if it showed anything it showed the dall where extremly prepared and willing to die for each other - dunloy have been performed like that for years and even better, antrim still went nowhere. Just an observation.

What's your point?

would like to thank the many gaels who came from all over antrim and ulster to support us at the weekend. it was overwhelming. Hopefully we can progress in the near future. Now lets all get behind the county this year with the same numbers and vocal support. we can only improve if we come together. The weekend was a sign that the commitment could well be there

FAO: Admin, i just noticed that when i add this site to my bookmarks you don't have an icon appear next to the link, if your interested in getting one e-mail me and i will provide you with an icon to place on the site so as anyone bookmarking the site will see the county crest along side the link.

Thanks for drawing our attention to that.

Im not sure if you've already been asked this and apologise if you have. The league fixtures that were issued and then taken off again had the leagues starting on 8th March...Is this still the case or is it likely to be put back ?? Im asking for selfish reasons only as I had hoped to participate in the Westlink run which is also on 8th March. Thanks.

The fixtures are currently with clubs - we don't have them. They are being manually checked by CCC before they are posted on this site and clubs secretaries are also to check these to raise any glaring discrepancies. Therefore you can check with your secretary when the planned start date is, but they will be posted on this site as soon as is humanly possible.

I just wanted to congratulate Erin Elliott a junior pupil at our school who was selected for C'mon Caman a TV programme on Rte about hurling and camogie. She was the only person from the North selected from the many that entered from all over Ireland and cut down to a final 24. Well done Erin another achievement for CPC and her club Dunloy.

Congratulations from us as well.

The assertion that N Antrim have a "great" U12 league and championship is very much open to debate. Thirty 10, 11 or 12 year old boys running around a pitch that seniors struggle to cover? Resulting in players having half an acre of space to work in (make countless mistakes in) without any real pressure. The big players just launch the ball in. Means very few touches under pressure for most players and actually encourages bad habits to develop such is the time many will have on the ball. Never mind one sided contests as a results of 1 or 2 big lads winning possession on a puck out and solo running through to score again and again. Not enough players involved or being put under pressure. Time for a change I say

Agree with the message from 'Give it a go'. If we continue with the status quo in u12 football and hurling it will be the same old teams winning the leagues and cups year in year out.Nobody benefits from this. Last year the u12 hurling league did not take place and replaced with conditioned games and still a south antrim team won the county final. Our club had more competive games last year in u12 hurling than in the last few years put together. These games were focused on developing skills and not on the win all mentality. I was greatly encouraged to see so many of these u12 hurlers attempting to catch the ball cleanly in the air - something they might not of done before as the conditioned rules encouraged this. It is up to all the clubs to pull their socks up and put in the same effort that the 2-3 big clubs are doing in a climate of promoting skills development and not just to win trophies.

Cushendall did the county proud yesterday I hope officials will have something to say about the less than ????

No need for such strident and blatant crticism of a referee. Have you tried doing the job? You are entitled to an opinion, but criticism needs to be tempered.

Was in Dublin yesterday for the Cushendall match and i have to say what a credit they where to Antrim Hurling. with out a doubt Cushendall were the far better team and should have won the match. You would have to however question the referee he was of a very very poor standard and given the development that has been put into our game is something that needs to be looked at. I thought Neil Mc Manus, Sean Delargy and Aaron Graffin were outstanding and I am really looking forward to seeing them play for Antrim the coming weeks an absolute pleasure to watch. The future can only be bright for Antrim hurling.
