great set up at st pauls for a club side thrown into the inter county scene. surface in excellent condition given the time of year and the number of matches played on it over the past month or so with the ulster minor and walsh cup game.

Love the sports bar! well worth a visit for a pint for all GAA fans.

On the PR theme I see all sorts of stuff uploaded to Facebook and people 'like' it
Also You Tube is a great way - can think of the save made by the Cross and Passion keeper a couple of Mageean's ago - seen by 30,000+.
You can imagine the positive impact of that
And we have loads of capable young ones at schools so gifted in this technology
It probably is about getting a group together associated with PR interested in promoting brand Antrim GAA

The process of gathering a group of people with the interest and skills to help promote and market Antrim GAA has started. Needed.

In regards to the minors and developement players in both codes, PR is right they are looked upto by younger members of there clubs and wearing a county shirt to training is a badge of honour for those chosen to represent our county. These kids play from whatever age be it 4,5 or 6 years old and dream of playing for there county some day. If and when the make it they feel special and younger kids in clubs look up to them as they should as role models of where they dream to be. So having a bit of PR round them is a good thing and maybe push other players to up there game to try and get on a squad. I agree with admin it has to be done right for their protection as they are still kids. By the way I did have a son on the Antrim team and know how proud he was and privilaged he felt to be there.

No don't have a son on any panel.
Feel that those who do get there are often held in high esteem by younger children.
There is considerable coverage for school teams etc
It was just a general comment that I think not enough publicity is given to the next generation and those that will follow
And I'm just interested in Antrim GAA
Agree with moderator about consideration needed when doing this about young people
But good quality publicity is good and needed more than ever

The son get on one of the panels then?

I do not know who PR is. Like yourself he or she did not give a name. If their son is on a panel I am sure they feel a degree of pride and there is nothing wrong with that. The idifficulty with the original idea is that there must be a great deal of care taken when posting information on social media about children.

I have known boys who did nothing other than play hurling or Gaelic football.
Didn't make them professional hurlers or footballers.
Maybe in Kerry they would be classified as professional.

Having a professional and balanced approach in an effort to perform at your best is good.

Maybe this is already being done
It is great to have profile / PR of our young players. These are who the younger ones relate to and that encourages them to emulate those who play for the County.
I'm not talking about seniors who may be fairly good at getting a bit of PR!

Great result for Antrim and St Johns in beating Omagh in the Ulster U21FC. Can only be a boost for the county and with Rossa winning, future looks good.

when will the fixtures be released to clubs.

The fixtures will be sent to the club secretaries as soon as they are ready. I am sorry that I can't give you an exact date but it does take time. Fixtures were discussed last night at the County Management meeting and as a result CCC will have to factor in any decision that may have been made. The assembly of the complete fixture list remains fluid up to the final draft and as you are no doubt aware even then extenuating circumstances can change everything. I will not be answering any more requests on when the fixtures will be released as I will only be repeating myself.

Well done to Rossa - it is very positive to see Antrim teams in finals and even better when they win them.
These are probably the building blocks that we need to see put in place each year so that we steadily make progress and rid ourselves of the perception that those boys down there are somehow more gifted than our Antrim players.
So well done to Rossa and let us enjoy their success as it reflects well on all of us in Antrim hurling.

I assumme not many will travel to Parnell tomorrow. I note Ger has named Dublin team well in advance. Why cant K Ryan announce his team. Is it policy..and if so ok. Please can we get clarity on this situation please. Ta

Kevin Ryan informed the players on Thursday evening at training. The press were given the Antrim team on Friday morning and the team was posted on the County website on Friday morning. Perhaps you missed it. It is still there if you did. Those who prepare the programme were given the team on Wednesday with the understanding that they would not release it until after the players were informed.

Would clubs in Antrim be willing to actively engage in outreach to the other community?
If so is there a group/ committee within Antrim that would be supportive of and facilitate this outreach.
Could do a lot to show our humanity !

There are plenty of examples from the GAA clubs in Antrim displaying their inclusivity. No person is excluded from our association. Being proactive in reaching out to all communities is always encouraged. Currently there is no specific committee as you speak of within the county.

When will the minor hurling league start and what is the cut off point, if interested, in joining the minor hurling league? Thanks.

The closing date to enter the competitions has now passed. CCC are still working on the fixtures schedule but it will not be before the Easter holidays.
