Why could the Antrim challenge game not take place on Saturday, instead of disrupting ACFL Division 1 and 2 games in Antrim??
...or did that not suit Bagatelle?

This game is nothing to do with championship preparation and everyone knows it.

-"What d'ya think of that Joe Brolly?"

The opening of the new pitch takes place on Sunday (Derry v Antrim) The rest of your comment - sorry don't know what it is about.

re game changes and county teams. surely if the county football management wanted to look at challenge games then they should be liasing with fixture makers at start of year.
This is the weekend of first round robin in hurling qualifiers as well its about time someone took the lead in terms of leadership, this could have been a free weekend for clubs and county teams given preference. Club Players do have lives to live as well.
I do know it is difficult as it is for fixture makers within the county but clear shows the need for separate county and club calendars

Meetings do take place amongst all parties at the start of the year but the nature of our sport is that it is fluid and accomodation has to be found at times. Many requests for changes, postponments from county managers are rejected but are worked around when possible.

are the div 1 & 2 reserve games fixed for sunday or saturday?

bit pointless if they are not double headers, twice the travel.

Clubs can fix them together.

Admin- how about taking into account the hundreds of club footballers who have had their sporting weekend rearranged to accomodate a select group of 25+ players who are to play a challenge game??? The arrogance is staggering.

If both clubs agree to play Sunday without their county players rhat can be accommodated also.

So all Div 1&2 football matches have been moved from the traditional Sunday afternoon to the Saturday evening to accommodate a CHALLENGE game for county footballers. How many players have now had to rearrange their lives to allow a select group of 25 to play a challenge match??? Some may not even get to play this weekend because of the change. Once again hundreds of normal club players get trampled on to accommodate the select few.

Will the club play without the county players and is it not right that we try and assist the county team preparations for their upcoming Ulster Championship game?

Really like the reference in a post there to silent sidelines. I feel this should be adopted throughout our games. It is the one area where I feel we let ourselves down badly as a sporting organisation. Let us catch ourselves on along the line?

How can anyone think it's ok to deprive so many players of games just because 30 or so can't play. Kilkenny are slightly more competitive than us and they don't put their club season on hold to cater for inter-county teams. Let's hear a rational answer.

If games are fixed some clubs will request a postponement as they don't have all their players available to them. Unless clubs decide that all games must be played even if they don't have their county players this will be repeated.

I see there is no more division 1 hurling games until May 13th. Why is this?

Liam, perhaps the reference you are referring to regarding "development" at U12 Hurling is the title given to the SA U12 League set up. Nothing selective about this, run under the Go Games set of rules. Small pitches, Neutral ref, silent sidelines the lot.

Have to say it is an excellent set up.

Lets hope the SA U12 "Championship" is changed to these rules.
