It's Spring time - time of great hope and things coming to life. Think that will be the story tomorrow with Antrim - ignited into action and the good days of summer hurling will follow. Great place to be in Ballycastle tomorrow urging our players on !
See you tomorrow.

With the way the div 3 is working, if you play all your rivals at home pre split you could end up with 12 away games and 7 home in a season.

Surely the number of home and away games should be equal so that clubs get an equal chance of gate revenue?

Would it not make more sense for 3 home and 3 away after the split?

There is no perfect solution. In your formula a team could play an opponent twice at home or away.

Give it a go on Sunday lads - you are the players on the field. Loads of Hurlers on the Ditch - but sure what- they'll not break a lot of ash!

Our County Senior Hurling team needs refreshed according to the Senior Manager in a regional newspaper this week. New faces have been introduced. Can I ask why are there so many players on the panel who have not yet proven themselves to be among the best club players in the county. I think it is a fair criticism to say that many of the players, while undoubtedly enthusiastic, would not stand out in Division 1 of the All County league. This may help us understand why our results are so poor and why the standard is so low. We have too many lower division players. One or two would be accepted as the norm, but given how weak the standard is in the lower divisions, it is worrying to say the least that players from these divisions have been judged to be among the best our county has to offer.
Is it a case of deciding that many Division 1 players are just not good enough, or is it a case of not enough interest in representing the County Team is present among Division 1 club players, so the numbers have to be made up from somewhere i.e. players from lower divisions.

I notice in the fixtures section for last nights games one of the ACFL Div 2 reserve matches had no referee attributed to it and therefore no referee turned up to the game, was this an oversight by the administrators or have we a shortage of referees?

A question I will ask the referees committee

If home advanatge is reversed after the split in Division 3 what happens if this causes an imbalance in the amount of home or away games teams play? For example if one team has happened to play the majority of their rivals away during the grading section do they then have these teams all at home after the split meaning they have had additional home fixtures during the season?

Or will it be 3 games home and 3 away meaning a team could have to play a promotion rival away twice in the same season?

Apologies if this sounds like I am being akward but I think these are pertinent questions and am genuinely interested in the format.

Thanks in advane for your response.

No team will have to play an opponent at the same venue twice. The first half of the League is for grading. The second half of the league will be strictly played on reverse venue it will not be recalculated into 3 home and 2 away or vice-versa. At this stage a club will play their rivals for the league at home and away.

Sorry - one last thing. I appreciate that you said the Hurling league formats were in the news section a few weeks back (saw them when they were there) but I was thinking more of having all league conditions/setups outlined somewhere for quick reference so that people know where they are - rather than having to trawl back through either news items or the guestbook to see what response was given to questions asked.

Will put them all together and post them in Administration

Thank you for the response - particularly in relation to Div 3 as I had heard recently everyone went back to 0 points after the Grading round. I thought it didn't make sense to do this so glad to hear that's not the case.

Would it be possible for a outline of how each league is working in both codes to be put up somewhere within the Admin section (for example). Specifically how many are promoted, relegated or, in the case of Div 3 football how the setup works i.e. do points carry after the Grading round or does everyone start from 0 points again, after the split do you play the teams at the opposite venue to where you played them in the Grading round etc. I just think it would be helpful to have this information for transparency and also to avoid a lot of potential confusion later in the season which seems to be an annual thing come the end of the summer. If it's there in black and white then people can't complain they didn't know.

Thanks.

The hurling leagues have been outlined on the Home page a couple of weeks ago. refer to them. Football. It is two promoted and two relegated. In Division 3 this year after the Grading Round the teams are split into two sections. Points gained during the Grading Round do carry and the venues are reversed in the second round.

People are making reference to the arrogance of those who arrange county challenge games on top of existing fixtures and expect the hundreds affected to lump it. I think there's validity in that point being made.
Its OK for Saturday evening qualifiers to be fixed and played but not an option for a County team to arrange challenge games at a time which lessens the impact on club games?
