This Saturday Antrim welcome young hurlers from Kilkenny and Dublin to take part in a series of matches at U14, U15, U16 and U17/minor level in what is intended to be the inaugural staging of The Antrim Cup. The event, which will be organised annually henceforth, is supported by the One Antrim initiative.

Speaking this week Antrim hurling development officer Kieran Megraw welcomed the support of the competing counties.

“There is no doubt that getting our development squads playing against counties like Kilkenny and Dublin on a regular basis helps bring our hurlers on. We have had some very strong performances in recent weeks and even going back this last season or two and that is something we need to build on. Usually we travel away to games so having Kilkenny and Dublin travel to Belfast makes it a special weekend. I hope that hurling fans and anyone interested in the development of the game locally comes out to see the hurling stars of the future. We are grateful too for the support from One Antrim, which draws its membership from all across the county and beyond.”

The fixtures for this weekend are as follows:
U14 Antrim V Kilkenny 12.30pm Corrigan Park
U15 Antrim V Kilkenny 12.30pmLamh Dhearg
U16 Antrim V Kilkenny 12.30pm St Galls Gac
