Liam Bradley appointed Antrim manager

Liam Bradley has been ratified tonight by Antrim clubs and returns as manager of the senior football team. Liam is joined in his managerial team by his son Paddy, Frank Fitzimmons, Declan Mullan and Ollie Cummings.

Antrim Chairman welcomed Liam Bradley’s appointment.

“This is great news for Antrim and we are now in a position to move forward positively. It has been a difficult few weeks in the county and we are glad now to be at the end of this appointment process. Liam had a massive impact on Antrim during his first term and he remains as positive as ever in his determination to make our team a success. I think he can repeat that success.

"It is onwards and upwards for Antrim from here on and I feel that in Liam Bradley and Kevin Ryan we now have the managers in place to take us forward.”

Liam Bradley said he was delighted to be back. He told the county website that he had a sense of déjà vu.

“I am delighted to be back in the fold. It’s a wee bit of 'here we are again', in Division 4 and looking to get out of it. I actually think this time around we have a better squad of players. We will be looking to get everyone back on board and making a big effort at having a successful 2014.

“Make no mistake Division 4 will be hard, there are a few teams down there who will be fighting like hell to escape. But I honestly feel that with the hard work, and a sense of togetherness and unity, we will not be far away. That togetherness extends to all clubs, players, the county board, the management team and the supporters – and I will be looking to garnish that spirit. If everyone gets behind the county team, we won’t be too far away.”

Liam’s management team includes his own son Paddy, Frank Fitzimmons, Declan Mullan and Ollie Cummings. He feels it is a very strong team.

“The management team includes some of the best young coaches in Ulster. I suppose Paddy catches the eye and I can tell you he is chomping at the bit, he can’t wait to get stuck in. Scoring has been a problem for Antrim teams in the past but I actually think we have some great, top class forwards spread throughout the clubs. I will be looking to bring all of them on board and with Paddy’s help we can start to rack up some big scores in games.”

Are you glad to be back Liam?

“Absolutely, and I can’t wait to get stuck in.”
