Protocol for the use of Hawkeye at Croke Park

A Review Official shall be appointed by the CCCC who shall be responsible for communicating with the referee in relation to Hawk-Eye adjudications and shall be based in the Control Centre. He shall also be responsible for calling the referee’s attention to an error/incorrect decision made by a match official in relation to a point or wide , as noted by Hawk-Eye. He shall communicate directly with the referee via the Referee Communication System.
1. Umpires unable to make a decision, unsure of the correct decision or disagree on
the correct decision:

b) Umpire indicates to the referee, using the agreed signal, that Hawk-Eye should be asked for an adjudication.
c) Referee uses the agreed signal and referee Communication System to ask Hawk-Eye, via the Review Official, for its adjudication .
d) Hawk-Eye adjudication relayed to the referee and umpires via Big Screen
d) Umpire signals the decision and the game continues as normal.

2. Umpires give conflicting signals or Referee is unsure whether to over-rule:
a) Referee stops play.
b) Referee uses the agreed signal and referee Communication System, via the Review Official, to ask Hawk-Eye for its adjudication.
c) Hawk-Eye adjudication relayed to the referee and umpires via Big Screen.
d) Umpire signals the decision and the game continues as normal.

3. Umpires and Referee give incorrect decision re (a) a point or wide or (b) fail to note that a ball has passed over the crossbar and is brought back into play.
a) Hawk-Eye (via Review Official) asks referee to stop play.
b) Referee stops play.
c) Referee uses the agreed signal and Referee Communication System, via the Review Official, to ask Hawk-Eye for its adjudication.
d) Hawk-Eye adjudication relayed to the Referee via Big Screen.
e) Umpire signals the decision.
(f) Referee re-starts play with a kick out/puck out from end where incorrect decision was made.
4. Umpire awards a point when Hawk-Eye determines that the ball has not passed over the plane of the crossbar.
a) Hawk-Eye (via Review Official) asks referee to stop play.
b) Referee stops play.
c) Referee uses the agreed signal and Referee Communication System, via the Review Official, to ask Hawk-Eye for its adjudication.
d) Hawk-Eye adjudication relayed to the Referee via Big Screen.
e) Umpire signals the decision.
f) Referee starts play with a throw in between two players on the half way line.

5. If Hawk-Eye does not provide an adjudication when requested (e.g. systems failure).
a) If no adjudication is forthcoming from Hawk-Eye, a message to this effect shall be displayed on the Big Screen.
b) The referee, following consultation with umpires, shall decide if a score is made.
c) The umpire shall signal that decision and the game shall then re-start.
