Naomh Comhghall tune up for gala concert fundraiser

Music fans in Antrim will be in for a real treat next month in the Old Courthouse Theatre when a glittering line up of talent is brought together for one night only.

The event is organised for 15 November as a fundraiser by local club Naomh Comhghall GAC and recognised artists from as far away as Co. Louth will complement the cream of local musicians for a feast of traditional & folk music.

The line-up includes Dundalk legend Gerry O’Connor who is long-regarded as one the finest exponents of fiddle-playing in Ireland.
Closer to home, Glenavy native Brendan Mulholland will enthral audiences with his virtuosity and amazing tone on the flute.

Belfast’s mighty fiddle & box duo Mairead Forde & Sean O’Kane are guaranteed to get feet tapping with their high energy style. The pair are occasional visitors to sessions in Antrim but will treat local audiences to some of their material recently presented during their tour in the United States.

Last but by no means least, fans favourites The Rapparees will fly the flag for home-grown talent with Antrim town native and club-man Kevin Mawdsley an integral part of their line-up.

Local traditional musician and St Comgall’s PRO John Hart said, “We have gone to great lengths to put together a first class line up of talent rarely seen in Antrim town. The quality of this promotion is on a par with anything you would see in the Waterfront Hall or Culturlan, but at a fraction of the price.

“These artists are used to playing in front of thousands of people, but our fundraiser is a great opportunity to see them in a more intimate setting. Whether or not you are fan of traditional or folk, if you enjoy great music then this event is not to be missed!

“As a club we try to promote all aspects of gaelic sport and culture and we hope that people will come out and support our fundraiser. We would like to sincerely thank the artists for making such a night possible.”

The event will take place in Antrim Old Courthouse Theatre 15 November, 7:30pm. Tickets are great value at £10 and can be obtained by contacting John, 07791470512, Tommy 07821814695 or Aimee 07743858080 by emailing eolas@stcomgallsgaa.com
