With apologies to St Johns GAC and in partlcular Chairman Eamon Grieve, this 'Chairman's Message' was inadvertently left out of the programmes for the County Finals.

“It gives me great pleasure, as Chairman of St.John’s GAC to see our Senior Football Team in tonight’s Senior Football Final.

However, right at the outset it is important to point out that at the time of writing we have already won the Minor Football Championship and are still to contest the Minor Hurling Championship Final.
Further achievements this season would relate to contesting Senior Hurling Semi-final against the All-Ireland Club Champions Loughgiel, Ladies Gaelic football Junior Final, replay of Camogie Shield
Semi-final and Final of the Feile Hurling earlier in the year.

I would like to take this public opportunity to thank all the players and especially the mentors who have given very generously of their time and expertise to bring about these achievements.

St.Gall’s Football Team have been at the pinnacle of Gaelic Football in Antrim for quite a few years now and we are delighted to have the opportunity to go ‘toe-to-toe’ with them in tonight’s final.
They have been worthy champions of the county and carried the Antrim flag proudly all over the country and for us to achieve anything it is right for us to have to face them tonight.

Tonight is a great opportunity for us as a Club, to rise once again, to a position where we once felt comfortable at the top of the Antrim Football mountain but we have to play well enough to win it.

Recently a lot has been said about the style of football throughout the whole country and discerning supporters of the game of Gaelic Football will wish for a game of fast free flowing football without
too many lateral movements and in a spirit and ethos that we all aspire to as Gaels in County Antrim.

On behalf of all the St.John’s people tonight, I would like to wish each player and mentor good luck in their endeavours and urge them not to let the game pass without them making a disciplined
positive impact.

To the Officials in the County Board and organisers of tonight’s event, I pass on my own and the club’s good wishes.

Is mise le meas

Eamon Grieve
