Michael McCann: support helped us get past Galway

Antrim midfielder Michael McCann is enjoying a run of supreme championship form this summer, but he is quick to concede that Tipperary will be confident heading into this Saturday’s Round 3 clash at Semple Stadium.

Speaking ahead of tonight’s training session McCann stressed that with an away venue, the next hurdle is massive.

“Make no mistake, Tipperary will be very happy with this draw, they have had a great victory over Wexford and they are playing at home again so in the eyes of many people they will be favourites. But it is a good opportunity for us as well and the lads will be giving it everything to go that one step further.”

Asked about the one point win over Galway and McCann declares it was ‘one of the good days to be an Antrim player.’

“Not too many people outside the changing room gave us much hope but we knew we were capable of beating Galway. It was very tight at the end and that’s when you really take encouragement from the supporters. Like in Clones our fans gave us a good shout and you want to do well for them and for the whole county, it definitely drives you on.

“I know that Thurles is a long journey but I hope as many Antrim fans can make it down as possible. The support can help us over the line and keep the summer going.”
