Before they sit down to turkey & stuffing this Christmas CLG Naomh Comhghall will be going the extra mile for charity raising funds for people in the developing world and all Antrim Gaels are welcome to join in the fun.

For the second year in a row the club will hold a GOAL Mile event on Christmas morning after 9.00am mass at St Comgalls Church.

The event is for all ages & abilities with participants able to run, jog, walk, or even push prams for a mile.

GOAL is an international humanitarian organisation dedicated to the alleviation of suffering among the poorest of the poor in the developing world. It was founded in 1977 by sports journalist John O'Shea who is the organisation's chief executive.

GOAL currently works in 13 countries in the Developing world, implementing rehabilitation and development programmes across a range of sectors, including health, education, nutrition, water and sanitation.

St Comgall’s Chair Paddy McLaverty invited Antrim Gaels to support the club in its effort, “The GAA is a community based organisation, but we recognise that this concept does not stop at the parish boundary or even the county border. We are part of a global community and that is why Naomh Comhghall are delighted to support such a great cause in international development.

“Last year despite the sub-zero temperatures club members raised over £400, and we hope to improve on that. If on such a special day any Antrim Gaels would like to join in the fun and support a great cause they should join us outside St Comgall’s church on Christmas Morning in Antrim approx. 09:45 / 10:00."
