Campa Chormaic Co. Aontroma

Campa Chormaic is now in its seventh year and is going from strength to strength. Campa Chormaic has been established in Cormac McAnallen’s honour, so that his name will live on and to promote the ideals with which he lived his life so diligently. Love for his country, love for the language and Gaelic Heritage and especially for Gaelic Games. For the first time, we are now in a position to offer a second camp in Antrim. Last year, we had an amazing Campa Chormaic and this year promises to be even better. So far, Campa Chormaic has visited Derry, Down and is taking place currently for 2 weeks in Tyrone. All of the camps so far have been fantastic and Antrim’s one will no doubt be just as good.

Campa Chormaic is a summer camp for young people aged between 10 and 16 years old which comprises of Irish Language classes, craic, dance, songs and games in the morning and Gaelic Games training sessions in the afternoon for 4 of the 5 days. On the final day, the participants will celebrate the end of Campa Chormaic with a trip to Craigavon water sports centre followed by a presentation of awards for those who stood out at the camp. During the week, the children and young people will have the opportunity to meet up with and speak with our county stars.

There are two camps taking place in Antrim this year. Camp 1 will take place on Monday 1st August – Friday 5th August and is for fluent Irish language speakers only. This will take place at Bunscoil an tSléibhe Dhuibh, Ballymurphy and at Naomh Eoin’s Corrigan Park. Camp 2 will begin on Monday 8th August – Friday 12th August and is for those did not get the opportunity to learn. This camp will take place at CBS Glen Road and St Mary’s CBS, Glen Road. The cost of the camp is only £40 per child. (There are special reductions for families).

You can download the forms here or receive them via email by contacting Seán on 07872994559 / oifig@glornamona.com or Rónán on 07707947394 / ronanoscollain@gmail.com.

Registration needs to happen as soon as possible and we would urge you to treat this matter urgently if your child is interested in taking part.

This is a great opportunity to give your child the opportunity to get a real feel for their culture, sports and heritage under the guidance of qualified teachers and coaches.
