BT Foresters’ Cup final :
St Mary’s Belfast 4-12 Cross & Passion Ballycastle 1-9.
St Mary’s CBS won the Foresters Cup in convincing fashion at Hannastown on Thursday when they beat arch rivals Cross & Passion College, Ballycastle by 4-12 to 1-9.
Leading by 1-7 to 0-3 at half-time St Mary’s still had a lot to do, considering the strength of the breeze they had to face in the second-half.
However a goal within a minute of the restart when Darragh McGuinness fired to the net after a great run by the stylish Conor Johnston put them firmly in the driving seat.

That score all but sealed Cross & Passion’s fate and when Daniel McKieran added two more major scores the size of the winning margin was the only thing in doubt
With their full-back line of Tomas O’Ciarain, Stephen Rooney and Aidan Orchin in commanding form the Belfast boys were never really troubled, and with team captain Ciaran Johnston, Darragh McGuinness, sub Daniel McKernan and top-scorer Conor Johnston all giving polished displays they powered their way to the title.
Conor Johnston’s first-half goal was a real peach as he killed a long clearance from brother Ciaran beautifully on his hurl before sprinting clear of the Cross & Passion defence to fire a beautiful left sided strike the net.
However St Mary’s early second-half strike all but ended the C&P challenge and despite points from Conor Christie and a late goal from Sean McAfee there was only going to be one winner as St Mary’s romped home in impressive fashion.
