Antrim senior footballers were joined by county hurlers Neill McManus and Shane McNaughton and by Monaghan footballer Darren Hughes last Wednesday night in Erin’s Own Social Club in Toome as they shed their precious locks to raise funds for the Irish Cancer Foundation and the Ulster Cancer Foundation.
Michael McCann was the man behind the Antrim drive to raise funds for this worthwhile charity as they joined county players from across the province in a fundraising drive which was the brainchild of Armagh star Aaron Kernan.
Michael and brother were joined by Antrim team-mates Justin Crozier, John Finucane and Paul Doherty, hurlers Neill McManus and Shane McNaughton and Darren Hughes of Monaghan as they came under the trusty ‘blade’ of local hairdresser Shauna Gillan and her assistant Seaneen Daykin.
While some of the boys took the easy option and went for the easy option of a number 2 or 3 Paul and Justin showed their bravery as they went for a Number 1.
Shane McNaughton had requested a style to match his dad Terence ‘Sambo’ McNaughton but Shauna had to inform him that she didn’t have a blade that cut that close.
Well done lads.
PS – If anyone wants to contribute and boost the boys funds they can still do so by getting in touch with Michael McCann.
