Antrim County Vice-Chairman Jim Murray has called on clubs and individuals to get in contact with him ASAP if they wish to attend the County’s 125 Celebration Dinner.

“While this event primarily will celebrate 125 years of the Association, we are also inviting members of the 1969 All Ireland Under 21 winning team and members of the 1989 All Ireland Hurling finalists to this occasion. It will be a unique occasion and we are sure that some clubs will want to attend who have not yet booked a table. We are also facilitating individual couples and smaller groups who wish to attend that are not part of a group by contacting me or any of the event organisers directly”.

Antrim County Chairman John McSparran echoed the vice-chairman’s remark. “Club Aontroma are also supporting this event and any funds raised will be used to support the development of the Centre of Excellence. It is vital that as a county we continue to demonstrate that we are committed to raising funds for such ventures. With difficult financial times throughout the country, it is clear that unless such commitment is forthcoming, there is absolutely no point in applying for partnership funding or grant assistance from organisations such as Sport NI and the GAA’s Central Council. The days of simply applying for grant assistance without demonstrating that we too are committed to such ventures are well and truly gone. We still prefer to raise such funds through ventures such as this where support is voluntary rather than simply applying a levy to clubs as happens in other counties”.
