Minor Footballers 08

2008 was not to bring any championship success to this team. On the 18^th of May in Casement Park the Antrim minor footballers lost to Cavan by one score. This same Cavan team only lost to the eventual All Ireland champions Tyrone by a late score in the Ulster semi-final.

The management team of Seán Fleming (Rossa), Dermot Graham (Ahoghill), Oran O'Kane (Rasharkin) and Barrie McGowan (St.Galls) held trials in November and December to pick a squad to compete in the Ulster League. When this squad was selected they began training which included a trip to the Glens of Antrim at New Year to work with the Irish Judo squad.

The boys on the panel worked hard during the coaching sessions and the spirit amongst them was always good. The team trained at several venues throughout the county; Edmund Rice College, St.Marys CBS, Rathmore Grammar, UUJ, Creggan GAC, St.Endas GAC, Rasharkin GAC, Rossa GAC, Gort na Mona GAC, Woodlands and even travelled into Magherafelt.
