The Northern Trust are proposing to close Dalriada Hospital, whilst at present they say this is only a temporary closure, the general suspicion is that this will be closed permanently from next April.
The Dalriada Hospital provides intermediate care beds which many people of the Glens avail of for respite and rehabilitation. Key patients affected will be patients post stroke, post fracture, and MS sufferers. Without these beds, future care for these patients is somewhat uncertain.
There is a public meeting tonight in the Parish Centre, Cushendall 7pm - 9pm. The next 72 hours are critical and all political representatives are asking the public to attend tonight in opposition to this decision. Likewise we would strongly urge everyone to attend.
