Antrim Hurling Development Squads are gearing up for their national blitzes this weekend and the U14 & U15 teams took in some vital preparation by spending last Saturday and Sunday in Limerick.

A travelling party of 54 players and coaches were lucky to take in the world class facilities at the University of Limerick. The U14 squad faced a Limerick side who are the top team at this level in Munster and were defeated 1-11 to 1-09 in a very strong performance which bodes well for games against Clare and Tipperary in the Tony Forristal competition in Waterford.

The U15 side got off to a flier at the Gaelic Grounds as a fantastic display saw them defeat Galway 2-13 to 0-08. A quick turn around after a 5 hour bus journey took it's toll as Limerick secured another win against Antrim on a scoreline of 2-12 to 0-08. The u15s head to Wexford for the Michael Foley competition and will be expecting strong performances as they play Wexford, Kilkenny and Dublin.

Later on Saturday the squads were taken to UL for a coaching session led by former Antrim manager Jerry Wallis and current Limerick Minor manager Brian Ryan who were impressed by earlier displays from the Antrim teams. Antrim u16s also head to their National blitz this weekend in Tipperary. It is weekends such as these that will further develop the players of the Antrim Development Squads. ----
