“For too long in our county we have underachieved. For too long we have been short sighted in our ambition and vision. Subsequently our ability to perform at the highest level has been hindered. There is a group of players within the county who hold a vision as to how Antrim Hurling should be. We are driven to achieve this vision for Antrim. We will no longer settle for short-term gains. We aim to build a squad over 2-3 years that will prepare as the best prepare, behave as the best behave and compete and achieve as the best compete and achieve.
Our time and efforts are a ‘given’ to achieve this vision. The support of Antrim Co. Board has been fantastic in everyway to laying foundations for our vision. There are many people within the Board working hard to support us financially and giving lots of personal time and effort.
In today’s GAA environment, there are great demands on County Boards to provide for their teams and development squads. The players greatly appreciate the efforts of the Antrim County Board. However we organise this event as a group who want to show our commitment to raising the bar without draining finances that are needed to develop our young players, develop facilities and run our County.
We are incrementally utilising sports science and technology to develop and sustain performance. This comes at a financial cost. We want to contribute to this cost so we can have the structures needed to build upon our great u21 success from 2013. We must invest in the talent at our disposal.
It is with this in mind that we proudly launch, in conjunction with The Bridge Bar Dunloy and Galgorm Castle Golf Club; The Antrim Senior/U-21 Hurlers Golf Classic, we would greatly appreciate any interest you show in supporting your county”
