Antrim GAA took a big step forward this month with news that we have now received planning permission for the next stage of the development of the Centre of Activity at Dunsilly.

The planning application - lodged earlier this year - sought permission for the erection of the changing facilities and pavilion, which is an essential part of the overall development. That application has now been given the 'green light'.

Chairman Jim Murray praised the efforts of those involved.

"The Dunsilly project has been a big objective of the County Executive for a number of years. It is a significant project for our county and when complete it will become the focal point for our county teams and for all within Antrim. We obviously have the land in place, progress has been made with some of the peripheral infrastructure and now we have planning permission for the changing rooms and the building.

This has been a huge team effort and I thank, on behalf of the whole county, all who have been involved.
"The pace of developments from here on will be dictated largely by our own fundraising efforts and the success we have in securing funds from statutory bodies and the GAA at provincial and central level.

"Dunsilly will be a big focus in 2014 and I believe we can can have players on the pitches in the course of the coming year."
