6 Carlow 4 0 4 0 58 78 0

This is the Allianz National Hurling League Division 1B table as we head into the last round of games. Following last week’s win over Carlow we have 2 points, and we face Offaly this weekend. Should we beat the Faithful we move onto 4 points, when two teams finish level on points the final position is settled on a ‘head to head’ but then there are more than 2 teams on the same points then score difference comes into play.

Unless Wexford beat Limerick then a win over Offaly will leave 3 teams on 4 points. Our score difference is currently -13, Offaly are at 1 with Wexford at 5, so we would require at least a 14 point shift to overhaul one of those two and avoid a relegation play off against Carlow.

Given Kevin Ryan’s emphasis on performance over results, he is unlikely to have a calculator to hand on Sunday afternoon at Casement, and who can blame him? The first thing we can hope for is another improved performance. If that gets us past Offaly we can worry about league placings after that.
