Ulster GAA President Martin McAviney today launched the 2013 Cadburys U21 Championship at the Long Gallery in Parliament Buildings, Stormont.

The launch was hosted by Minister for Culture, Arts and Leisure Carál Ní Chuilín as part of Seachtain na Gaeilge, and was attended by Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, MLAs and Gaels from across all nine counties of Ulster. Special guests at the launch included players and managers of Ulster’s U21 squads and Ulster Manager Joe Kernan and victorious Ulster Captain Darren Hughes with the M Donnelly Railway Cup.

Speaking at the launch Ulster GAA President Martin McAviney said, “I welcome representatives from all counties, both players and managers today. The focus of today’s launch is about our young players - and this competition is an opportunity for players at U21 level to showcase their skills and abilities, and hopefully pick up an All Ireland medal along the way.

“This competition is full of enthusiasm and excitement as it unearths a new generation of Gaelic Players and marks the ones to watch in the future. I have no doubt that the Cadbury’s U21 Championship 2013 will be an enjoyable and hard fought competition. I appeal to Gaels across Ulster to get behind this competition and your team by coming out to the games because after all, nothing beats being there.”

Players in attendance at the launch included: Ruairi McCaughley (Armagh), Christy Sheerin (Antrim), Daniel McKenna (Monaghan), Ruairi Corrigan (Fermanagh), Aaron Devlin (Derry), Niall McParlan (Down), Fearghal Flanagan (Cavan) and hurler Matthew Donnelly (Antrim)
