Ulster U10 Indoor Hurling Blitz

Ulster GAA, invites all Hurling clubs to attend its annual U10 Indoor Hurling blitz on Saturday 2nd March. The blitz will be held in Meadowbank Sports Arena, Magherafelt, Co.Derry.

In 2013 the format is changing,
There will be 2 Blitzs: Blitz 1 from 12:00pm – 1:30pm and Blitz 2 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm
We will have 6 competitions for all abilities at each blitz: A & B 9 a-side Airborne; A & B 5 a-side Airborne; A & B 5 a-side Ground

Closing date to attend the Blitz is Friday 22nd February.
Registration is £20 per Club, although clubs may enter as many teams as they wish as long as they are pre-registered so groups can be allocated in advance. We can accommodate 35 teams in Blitz 1 and 35 teams in Blitz 2

To register a club, please send a completed Registration form attached or (which can be downloaded from the Ulster GAA website or by emailing Kevin Kelly at kevin.kelly.ulster@gaa.ie) along with £20 Registration fee (cheques made payable to Ulster Council GAA) to, Ulster U10 Indoor hurling Blitz, 8-10 Market St, Armagh, BT61 7BX

Playing the Game rules and restrictions
• 9 a-side or 5 a-side
• Games are 8 minutes straight
• Each team will play 4 games
• Matches will be played using a Smart Touch sliotar
• The ball will be live at all times, no line balls and no wide balls
• Cannot score direct from Puc Outs
• No kicking – accidental contact with the feet is permitted
• Players can take 4 steps but solo running with the sliotar is not permitted, as with a player fouling the ball, the player who is fouled takes their own free (or the player who is closed to the opponent who fouls the ball takes the free, break this rules results in a penalty to the opposition)
• Goals ONLY to encourage better attacking play
• After all Goals (either for or against) each team is encouraged to change their Goalkeeper Notes:
• Players must be born after 1st January 2003
• These games are for the benefit of the boys involved there should be no negative shouting at players or referees
• Teams must line up and shake hands with the opposition after each match
• No food or drink will be provided so teams are asked to provide lunch/ snacks for themselves. Food and drink along with kit bags are NOT permitted in the halls.
• Only the 2 teams playing are permitted in the playing hall.
• We are on a tight time frame and games will be run off as fixture list. If games are missed due to lateness they will not be re-fixed.
• All teams must be at the venue at least 20mins prior to the first game.
