De La Salle hosted a group of students and staff from St. Kieran’s College, Kilkenny recently as part of their annual sporting, cultural and educational exchange between the two schools.

The exchange, now in its eighteenth year, has proved to be very successful for both La Salle and the famous Kilkenny College . Over twenty students travelled to Belfast this weekend and enjoyed the hospitality of their host families.

The St. Kieran’s lads played two hurling challenge games against hosts La Salle and local club Lámh Dhearg on Friday and Saturday. They also enjoyed some indoor hurling and other sporting activities at the De La Salle Sports Complex and swimming at Lisburn Leisureplex. As well as a cultural and educational tour of Belfast , Belfast ’s City Hall and the Titanic Quarter, the young Kilkenny men took time out to enjoy the Belfast Continental Christmas Markets.

The young hurlers will return home on Monday with many good memories of Belfast . It was a great weekend for all involved with the
exchange trip and like current Kilkenny senior player, Richie Hogan, who participated in the exchange trip as a St. Kieran’s pupil, some of the St. Kieran’s players will probably feature in the Black and Amber jersey in the years ahead.

Congratulations to all who made the trip a memorable and worthwhile one. The De La Salle College staff involved in the annual exchange,
would once again like to thank the parents and families of the pupils who hosted the lads over the four days. Well done to all the St. Kieran’s students who were great ambassadors for their School and County.
