Allianz Cumann Na mBunscol Antrim Schools To The Fore In National GAA Honours
The pupils and staff of St. Brigid's P.S., Ballymena and Mt. St. Michael's P.S. Randalstown have been celebrating this week as they were awarded runner up spot and 3rd place respectively in the prestigious Allianz Cumann Na mBunscol National GAA Awards. Cumann Na mBunscol is the organisation which co-ordinates gaelic games activity in primary schools throughout Ireland. The event took place in GAA Headquarters at Croke Park, Dublin and the schools were recognised in St. Brigid's case in the "Promotion of Gaelic Games and Culture" category and in Mt. St. Michael's case in the "Large Schools" section.
Central to both school's success was their work to promote Gaelic games at all levels among their pupils.
Antirim Cumann Na mBunscol went one step further when they were crowned 1st place winners in the Public Relations category. This award recognises the efforts made by the Antrim Cumann Na mBunscol committee and schools to promote primary school Gaelic Games in the media.
