St.Olcan’s Parish Centre Rasharkin provided the setting for Aontroim Scor na nOg final on Sunday past. This wonderful facility was full to capacity with a crowd of over three hundred enjoying a superb evening of Irish Traditional music, song, story and dance. The respective semi finals took place earlier in the month to leave four clubs competing in seven disciplines. Naomh Mhuire Aghagallon were the only entry in Rince Seit (Set Dancing) so the South West club started the evening with one county title under their belt.

Eleven clubs were in attendance altogether - Oisins Glenariffe, Cuchullains Dunloy and Mac Uilin’s Ballycastle representing North Antrim with Lamh Dhearg, Naomh Eanna and Pearses GAC from South Antrim while flying the South West flag were Naomh Mhuire Aghagallon, Tir na nOg Randlestown, Kickhams Creggan, Geraldine’s Portglenone and Naomh Seosamh Glenavy.
Naomh Mhuire Aghagallon continues to lead the way in cultural activity in the Saffron County, their Ballad Group made it all the way to the Scor Sinsear All Ireland Final earlier in the year in Killarney and they would be hoping some of their five entries would emulate this success. Hannastown club Lamh Dhearg also looked strong and had four entries as Oisins Glenariffe and McQuillans Ballycastle had three entrants apiece.
Gloria McLaughlin the Scor Committee deserve much credit for their organisation and smooth running of the event. The excellent Fear a tí for the evening was Danny McLernon from St.Mary’s Rasharkin. All the competitors deserve recognition for there efforts and all can feel proud of their performances. The Ulster Scor na nOg Semi Final will be held Saturday 1st December in Saval GAA Centre Co.Down were Antrim, Derry and Down Champions will compete for a place in the Ulster Scor na nOg final Saturday 12th January.
