Young Saffrons travel with confidence

Manager of Antrim’s minor footballers, Danny O’Neill, is anticipating a big performance from the young saffrons this Sunday and he reckons the squad is “busting to get to Clones and represent our county.”

Last year in Ballybofey Antrim began the day with a win over the hosts, before the Ulster championship campaign came to a shuddering half against Cavan in Newry. Naturally Danny prefers to recall the first match and he is looking for a repeat outcome this weekend.

“Last year not too many people gave us a chance against Donegal on their home patch, and fair play to that Antrim minor team, they put in a huge effort and they got their rewards. Now we face another away trip but I’ll say this about our boys – they certainly won’t be daunted.

“We expect Monaghan to be a big, strong team. But our boys are confident, they have put in a huge amount of work in training these last two months and we feel that we are ready to represent Antrim and give it all we have in this game. We’ve down the work, prepared as best we can and the whole squad is busting to get to Clones to represent our county.

These lads won’t let anyone down, that’s for sure.”
