Minister of Culture Arts and Leisure Caral NiChuilin visited the Antrim Centre of Participation and Excellence today, along with Sport NI Chief Executive Eamonn McCartan. They were welcomed to the site by representatives of the County Board, and were joined by Antrim Mayor Cllr Paul Michael.

Antrim Chairman Jim Murray said,

"We were delighted to have the Minister, and the Chief Executive of the Sports Council Eamonn McCartan on site today. Caral Ni Chulilin has been supportive and she was keen to see the progress to date. We will work in partnership with the Department, and indeed with Antrim Borough Council, to get the project up and running as quickly as possible. A lot has been achieved at Dunsilly and my ambition is to see games being played there as quickly as possible.

"Further progress with the site is dependant on securing extra funding and we are pursuing all avenues in this regard."

The Minister said she would continue to pursue a 'can do' policy with regard to Dunsilly and she praised the achievement of the Board to date.
