Allianz Football League Division III: Antrim 0-13 Sligo 0-12
Tomás McCann's last minute long distance free proved to be the winner as Antrim hung on for a vital home victory against Sligo in Belfast.
Sligo's record against Antrim coming into this was impressive, winning three of their last five encounters, and it almost looked like they would do it again only for the expert kicking of McCann in the last 10 minutes.
Adrian Marren for the visitors was untouchable in the open 35 minutes and one of the reasons why there was only the single point between the sides. He notched up 0-4, two of them from frees while Martin Breheny tagged on the other.
But the Saffrons were able to call on points from a number for scorers. McCann, two from Brian Nesson, Conor Murray and Paddy Cunningham all managed to get their names on the score sheet and give their side a single point lead of 0-6 to 0-5.
The Yeats County looked the stronger of the two after the restart and second half sub Con McGee gave them a three point advantage and they looked like they would expand on it.
But the Saffrons responded well knowing that home games are key in the League, as they will now play four away games. Kevin Brady Seán Finch and Nesson, with his third of the game, leveled the sides yet again.
James Clarke put the traveling side back into the lead but McCann was on hand to slot over a free. He added another to his tally just moments later from play but again Sligo dragged one back through Colm McKee and a draw looked to be on the cards.
However McCann kept his cool from all of 51 yards to give the home side the victory in a dramatic finish in Casement Park.
