St Louis Ballymena qualified for the semi finals of this year’s Loch An Iuir Cup with a 2-3 to 0-7 win over St Mary’s Belfast at Cargin. St Mary’s were beaten last season’s Corn Colmcille final and started well leading 0-5 to 0-1 at half time. St Louis looked in trouble and were guilty of wayward passing the poor use of possession.
In the second half they upped their performance and were more composed. Points from Eamon Fyfe and a Colm Griffin goal got them back into the game. In the closing stages a Ciaran Dobbin goal was the crucial score to put the Ballymena boys through to the last four. Last season in the Colmcille St Louis were beaten at the semi final stage against eventual winners Keady. They face the winners of Carrickmacross and Letterkenny in next week’s semi final.
St Louis scorers: Ciaran Dobbin (1-0), Colm Griffin (1-0), Eamon Fyfe (0-2) and Ronan Graham (0-1).
