If the redevelopment of Casement goes as we hope it will, then there
is a possibility that this year’s club finals will be the last to be played in the 'old' Casement. For this reason, and because our club finals represent the culmination of club activity in the county, as a Coiste Bainisti we want to make the weekend as inclusive and as celebratory as possible.
We are planning a ‘Parade of Clubs’ whereby each club in Antrim send 6 - 8 juveniles, preferably a mixture of boys and girls, to parade in their club colours and where possible behind their club banners, before the games. If there is sufficient numbers taking part we will spread the clubs out between the Saturday and Sunday. There will be a band in attendance and the kids will parade behind the band just prior to the National Anthem.
Details of this initiative were emailed to club secretaries just over a week ago. So far the response has been positive and about a third of the clubs in the county are committed to taking part. If your club is going to take part and you have not yet let me know please notify me on email address pro.antrim@gaa.ie.
It would be helpful if you could indicate if your club has a preference for the football final (evening of Saturday 24th September) or the hurling (afternoon of Sunday 25th September). Clubs wishing to take part both days will be accommodated.
Thank you
