Antrim County Chairman has called for a big turnout of saffron supporters for Saturday’s double header of All Ireland qualifier matches v Westmeath (football) and Carlow (hurling). The games are at 2pm and 4pm.

Jim Murray said today, “Last weekend’s win by our hurlers over Westmeath was very welcome, that set up a round 1 proper game V Carlow and a fine double header of championship games. Both of our teams have a chance of making progress and hopefully a big crowd will be there to cheer them on. People not involved with the county teams probably do not realise the amount of work these squads put in from the start of the year. They train very hard, make big sacrifices and I know that the management of both squads have prepared our teams very well.

“Days like Saturday, with both of our senior teams in action at home on the one day are pretty rare. It happened last year when unfortunately Kildare overcame the footballers and our hurlers beat this year’s opposition, Carlow. I am confident that both teams can win this weekend.

“Any Antrim fan who is able to come along should be there – this is the time to stand up and support Antrim.“

Supporters can pay at the gate on Saturday, £18 into the stand, £9 onto the terrace. Under 16 years olds, free of charge.
