Antrim selector Gregory O'Kane is adamant that the Saffron hurlers cannot look beyond this Saturday night’s championship opener V Laois.

Although injury has played a part in preparation, O’Kane remains confident that Antrim can prevail. Antrim have long term injury problems with Liam Watson, Johnny Campbell, PJ O'Connell and Cormac Donnelly. However the management team is more that content with the squad at their disposal.

"Hopefully the players perform the way they can and get the result. We cannot look any further than Portlaoise. Laois are a good side and for each young player Saturday evening is about playing and performing and getting the best out of yourself and your team-mates on the day. Preparations have gone nicely but it would have been nice to have the injured players available. That is the only downside.

"The players are looking sharp in training. Fitness will not be a problem.

"It is now a matter of performing on the day and if every player performs we can get the result we want."
