Antrim recorded their first league win of the campaign on Saturday last and manager Liam Bradley insists the Saffrons expected nothing less.

“At the start of the year we targeted our four home games in particular for wins. We lost the first against Kildare and we were all disappointed with that performance. But make no mistake, we expected to beat Meath in Casement and that was the way we prepared. We were glad to put the two losses behind us and it was nice to get the win on our home turf and in front of our own supporters.”

Antrim’s squad is now being tested through yet more injuries but Bradley has faith in the entire playing squad.

“We used three subs on Saturday and all of them did very well. Mark Dougan and Mark Sweeney have played already this year in the McKenna Cup while Richard Johnston appeared for the first time. When Justin had to come off we turned to Richard and he gave Joe Sheridan one hell of a battle. We had to bring in Conor Murray and Aaron Douglas before the game threw in, so really the squad is being used fully.

“People might have doubted the strength of the Antrim squad in the past but that question has been answered now. We will look at the injuries when we gather the squad together this week and assess the situation ahead of the next game against Tyrone. “

Antrim travel to Omagh on Saturday 12th March for the fourth round of the Allianz National Football League.
