A clinical performance in score-taking by the Johnston brothers saw Naomh Eoin clinch the under 16 double in Casement Park at the expense of the St Brendan’s hurlers.
Centre-half back Ciaran Johnston did not fail to convert a distance free all night, including 4 from the 65 metre line and one further out.
Younger brother Conor was a constant threat around the half-forward line going on to fire over 8 points over the hour.
Naomh Eoin showed excellent teamwork throughout the field with crossfield balls played to the advantage of their forwards and were emphatic winners.
St Brendan’s had their best spell during the second quarter, after a disastrous opening period when they shot six wides before Eoin Magee pointed in the 17th minute.
By then Naomh Eoin had 1-5 on the board including a brilliant solo goal from Micheal Dudley to open the scoring in the 3rd minute.
By half time St Brendan’s looked to be back in the game, trailing 1-8 to 0-4 and Connlaoth McNeill converted an early free to in the second half to close the gap further. That was however as good as it got for the north Antrim side.
The City side stepped up a gear and hit 9 points in a row in the third quarter to ease to the title.
