Club Aontroma Chairman Colm McKenna, and Treasurer Roisin Lynch presented County Chairman John McSparran with the organisations latest contribution to the Antrim Centre of Excellence project at Dunsilly. The pair handed over a cheque for £10,000, the proceeds of the series of draws organised at Antrim senior National League hurling and football games this year.

Colm McKenna said “The Club Aontroma draws were a great success, and fans responded in ever greater numbers as the competitions went on. Hopefully with Division 2 football next season and with the hurlers having had a very positive championship, the crowds will be bigger than ever next season. The Dunsilly project is the jewel in the crown when it comes to the development of our games and we all need to support it financially. At Club Aontroma we will be looking to re activate the draw in the latter stages of our own County Championships so people will have another chance to put their hands in their pockets, support the county, and be in with a chance of walking off a few hundred pounds better off.

“We would like to acknowledge the support we received from the county camogs and ladies footballers during the draws. It was a case of ‘all hands on deck’ and they really helped us out.”

John McSparran welcomed the contribution from Club Aontroma, and said there was a still a lot more fundraising which needs to be done. “We all know that money is tight these days and it might be the case that as public funding is squeezed we all have to use our own enterprise to even greater effect to realise our collective Dunsilly dream. We appreciate the efforts of Club Aontroma in this regard – and there is a lot more work to be done.”

Club Aontroma will be organising a fundraising “Night at the Races” at Drumbo Stadium in October. Visit the website www.clubaontroma.com to keep up to date with the details and how you can support this venture.
