Feis Cup holders Dunloy booked a place in this year’s Feis Cup final when they brushed aside the challenge of Ballycastle in Tuesday evening’s semi-final in Loughgiel. It was clear that many of the Ballycastle players were still celebrating their Under 21 Championship winning success from two nights earlier as they failed to compete during the second-half of a desperately disappointing game.
The first half was quite competitive, and indeed Ballycastle held a two point lead in the early stages, but as the game progressed Dunloy began to get on top and went on to lead by 0-9 to 0-7 at half-time.
A point inside twenty seconds of the restart by Dunloy midfielder Paddy Richmond signalled his team’s intentions and they went on to totally dominate. Substitute Kevin Martin, who normally plays his hurling in defence, became the scoring hero for the Cuchullains as he hit 4-1 from play while Chris Brogan also found the net as they raced to a 5-16 to 0-9 victory and a final place at Feis na nGleann, which this year will be held in Glenariffe on July 4th.
