Loughgiel secured a place in yet another Under 21 hurling final when they beat St Brendan’s in Friday evening’s semi-final in Armoy.
Loughgiel were well in control in the early stages and opened up a 1-5 to 0-4 lead, but St Brendan’s fought back to level the match with a goal from Michael Devlin and Conor Laverty point.
Leading by 1-7 to 1-5 at the break the Shamrocks began to get a firm grip on the game in the second-half and a Chris Quinn goal and two Liam McKillop points saw them open up a seven point gap.
Mickey Devlin lifted St Brendan’s spirits with a lovely point direct from a sideline-cut but when Ciaran McKinley fired in Loughgiel’s third goal in the forty-fourth minute there was only going to be one winner and the Shamrocks booked a final place against the winners of the other semi-final between Cushendall and Ballycastle.
