20 April 2010
The QUB Traditional Music Symposium (in association with BTMS, ASCTM, Madden's Bar, and Santander) will take place on Friday 23rd and Saturday 24th April in the McMordie Hall and later in the Harty Room in QUB.
--------------
CONCERT 8pm HARTY ROOM
Ireland's premiere fiddle ensemble FIDIL will perform in the Harty Room at 8pm. FIDIL are the first traditional music act ever to be given a 5 star review by the Irish Times for their most recent album '3'. This is their first public performance in Northern Ireland and a wonderful opportunity to see a truly world leading musical ensemble in an intimate setting. The band's music combines the old fiddle repertoire of Donegal with an innovative and unique approach. Two of group are past recipients of the prestigious 'Gradam Ceoil Young Musician of the Year' award. See website (
http://www.fidilmusic.com/Fidil/Home__Fidil.html) for more information on the band. This is traditional Irish music as you've never heard it before so don't miss this opportunity to see a wonderful group of musicians on top form.
