Seán Mac Diarmada GAA Club Belfast celebrates Seán Mac Diarmada's birthday.
On the 27th of February history will be made in west Belfast. For the first time ever, two Seán Mac Diarmada GAA clubs will meet to celebrate the 127th birthday of their club namesake.
The two clubs are Seán Mac Diarmada Belfast and Seán Mac Diarmada Monaghan.
The two clubs will meet each other in a football match in Casement Park with a 2pm throw in. A representative from the Mac Diarmada family will be in attendance to witness this quite unique event.
After the match a dinner for the players will commence in the Seán Mac Diarmada club house on the Falls Road. A night of Irish music will take place from 9pm to 11pm; all are welcome to come along to this cultural evening of music, dance and song.
On Sunday the 28th which will be Séan Mac Diarmada's birthday a day of cultural activities will take place in the club. This will include Irish language classes and will be followed by a night of traditional Irish music by local musicians.
The aim of the weekend is to celebrate both the sacrifice of Seán Mac Diarmada who was executed on 12th May 1916 and to strengthen the Irish cultural ideals that he held very closely to his heart.
All are welcome to come along and join in the celebration.
