Scór Finals A Great Success

15 February 2010
A great night’s entertainment was enjoyed by the large crowd, who attended the recent County Antrim Finals of the Senior Scor. Hosted by the St Comgalls Club at St Joseph ’s Hall, Greystone, the venue proved to be ideal for both the succession of enthusiastic performers and the travelling attendance. Seven separate events were staged on the night, all of which were vigorously contested. They ranged from Ceili Dancing, through Instrumental Groups, Solo Singers, Reciters, Ballad Groups, Quiz teams and Novelty Act. A steady stream of competitors stepped forward to represent their respective Clubs, and while some were there with modest objectives, others were there for the serious contest. When County officer Danny McLernon made the presentation of prizes at the end of the night, it came down to a clean sweep by the two St Marys Clubs- Rasharkin and Aghagallon, with the latter shading it on a 4-3 result. The other participating Clubs on the night, St Comgalls, Tír na nÓg, Shane O’Neills, St Endas along with all the other Clubs within the County have a high standard to achieve if they’re to challenge for the honours in 2011. Great credit must go to the County organiser, Gloria McLaughlin and the adjudicators, the hosts St Comgalls, and all the entrants who put on a marvellous exhibition of talent.
