St Gall’s hurlers made history at Parnell Park, Dublin today (Saturday) when they beat Galway and Connacht champions Tynagh/Abbey Duniry by 012 to 0-10 to become the first Antrim and Ulster team to qualify for the Intermediate Club Hurling Final.
With over half of the senior football team who play in the All Ireland Club Senior Football semi-final next month lining out St Gall’s got away to a great start and a point from McAreevy inside thirty seconds gave them the lead.
With CJ McGourty showing great accuracy from the placed ball, and the half-back line of Anto Healey, Ciaran McGourty and Joe McDaniels in great form, the Antrim champions went on to lead by 0-9 to 0-4 at half-time.
The Galway men, who had former county stars Kevin Broderick and Liam Hodgins in their ranks, looked more dangerous in the second half but St Gall’s were always on top and two more points from CJ McGourty helped them to an historic 0-12 to 0-10 win.
