Hot on the heels of their football counterparts victory over Queen's University in the Ulster Bank Sigerson Cup, the hurlers of UUJ also done the business thanks to a comfortable 1-16 to 1-6 win over their Belfast rivals at Casement Park on Wednesday night.

Having been crowned Division 2 Senior Hurling League Champions before Christmas UUJ were in tremendous form and were eager to continue their good run of form.

There was little wind to effect either side as conditions were ideal for a keenly contested hurling encounter.

UUJ showed great initiative throughout this game and led by 0-7 to 0-2 at the interval and were fully deserving of that five-point advantage.

Queen's never troubled their Jordanstown colleagues as UUJ lead from start to finish in this game.

Just as in their league final win over IT Tralee in Carlow, Antrim's Paul Shields again came to the fore and bagged eight points to earn top-scorer status for the eventual winners.

Shields fellow county man Conor McAlister may have done his best to keep Queen's in touch with a second half goal, however UUJ weren't to be denied victory with Ciaran Courtney netting to seal a ten-point win.

UUJ Scorers: Paul Shields 0-8; Ciaran Courtney 1-2; Kevin Sheerin 0-3; Michael McCarthy, Aaron Smiley & Oisin McCloskey 0-1 each.
Queen's Scorers: Conor McAlister 1-1; Sam Dodds 0-3; Conor Woods 0-2.
